What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is gaining traction in the skin care world due to its wide range of benefits and accessibility. It is a minimally invasive procedure that also uses a handheld device, however the microneedling device contains fine needles that inflict micro-punctures on to the skin. These controlled injuries trigger the skin’s natural repair processes stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Collagen and elastin are both structural proteins within the body’s connective tissue. Both functions are essentially to hold us together, however elastin has the added function of allowing skin to “snap back”.

As we age and with exposure to UV rays, tobacco smoke, etc., our body’s natural collagen and elastin production diminishes. The procedure of microneedling tells the skin to direct large amounts of healing and regeneration to the treated area, which in turn induces the production of fresh skin cells, collagen, and elastin.

What does Microneedling target?

  • Acne scars
  • Age or “sun” spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Other types of scars
  • Reduced skin elasticity
  • Uneven skintone
  • On some occasions, stretch marks of various parts of the body

Acne Scarring Before and After 1 Treatment

What Happens During the Procedure?

As you arrive, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the designated areas. The cream requires 45 mins to become fully effective however it minimizes pain during the needling. Consider bringing headphones or book for the wait!

After 45 minutes, excess numbing cream is cleaned from the skin and the microneedling begins. As the pen-like machine moves over your skin, hyaluronic acid is simultaneously added. This allows for the hyaluronic acid to reach layers of the skin that are left otherwise untouched.

As the needling is completed, more hyaluronic acid is added and gently massaged into the skin. A mask is then applied to the targeted area.

The targeted area is then cleaned and the customer is free to continue their day.

*NEW* Rejuvenating NanoFacial

Nanoneedling, also referred to as Nano Infusion, is similar to microneedling, however, instead of creating punctures with small needles, the nanoneedles are microscopic prisms that create transdermal micro-channels allowing the handheld device to push nourishing ingredients, such as Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C, deep within the skin. This procedure is PAIN FREE and requires no downtime.

How Can I Prepare for My Appointment?

Please inform us prior to your appointment if you have been prescribed blood thinning medication by your doctor.

No need to wear makeup to your appointment! It is best to bring a fresh, clean mask as your skin will be vulnerable immediately following the procedure.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

Microneedling will leave the targeted area red and vulnerable. It is important to bring a fresh or clean mask to ensure no bacteria or dirt come in contact with the microneedled skin.

Recovery can take 2-5 days.

During the recovery process, please refrain from using skincare products such as cleansers, toners, lotions, on the skin. To clean, rinse gently with water and apply the provided hyaluronic acid. Feel free to continue your skin care routine as usual after 2 days.

Skin will be more sensitive to the sun after needling. It is important to stay out of direct sunlight in the days following the procedure and to apply sunscreen once your skincare routine re-commences
